Terms of Use

Effective 16 July 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Dutchnest ("we", "us") for the use of the Dutchnest app and dutchnest.nl. By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. The service

Dutchnest is a Dutch-language learning app with a course from A1 to B2. The core course is free to use. We may change, extend or discontinue features of the service over time; where a change materially reduces what a paid upgrade gives you, we will say so in advance.

2. Free tier and advertising

The free tier may include a limited amount of advertising. Ads are marked as such. Personalized ads are only shown if you separately consent through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; otherwise ads are contextual. See the Privacy Policy for details.

3. Purchases

Optional upgrades (such as an ad-free experience or extra practice features) are sold as in-app purchases processed by Apple, under Apple's Media Services terms. Prices are shown before you buy. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID; use "Restore purchases" to recover them on a new device. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's refund policy. Statutory consumer rights under Dutch and EU law remain unaffected.

4. Your account

An account (Sign in with Apple or Google) is required to save progress beyond the first unit. Keep your sign-in credentials secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You may delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Delete account).

5. Licence and intellectual property

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own language learning. All content in the app — lessons, exercises, dialogues, audio recordings, illustrations, the mascot and the Dutchnest name — is owned by or licensed to us and protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not copy, extract, redistribute, publicly perform or resell the app's content, and you may not reverse-engineer the app except where the law expressly permits it.

6. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt or overload the service, probe or breach its security, use the service with automated tools at abusive volume, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or abuse the service, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.

7. Content and accuracy

We work hard to keep the Dutch accurate and exam-relevant, but Dutchnest is a study aid: it is not affiliated with DUO, the Staatsexamen NT2 or any government body, and no particular exam result is promised. Course content, structure and features may change as the course improves.

8. Availability

We aim for high availability of account sync and the website but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Learning features that do not depend on your account keep working during outages.

9. Liability

The app is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or any right you have as a consumer under Dutch or EU law.

10. Termination

You can stop using Dutchnest and delete your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend access for violation of these terms. Sections 5, 9 and 12 survive termination.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect; continued use after that date means acceptance. The current version always lives at dutchnest.nl/terms.

12. Governing law and contact

Dutch law applies. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. Questions: support@dutchnest.nl.
